A healthy culture is one that embraces the diversity of our society, and enables everyone in it to lead healthier lives now and for generations to come. It is a culture in which good health and wellbeing flourish across geographic, demographic, and social boundaries; in which the need for healthy and fair communities guides public and private decision making; and in which everyone has the opportunity to make choices that lead to healthy lifestyles.

One of the seven wellbeing goals put in place for Wales by the Wellbeing of Future Generations Act focuses on a Wales of vibrant culture and Welsh language.  This goal encourages us to work towards a society that promotes and protects culture, heritage and the Welsh language, and which encourages people to participate in the arts, sports and recreation.

Our heritage, one of our many strengths in Wales, is one of community cohesion, passion, creativity, global responsibility and innovation.  We need to harness these characteristics to enable a Wales that is equal, has the healthiest generations than ever before, and can maximise the potential of our people and natural resources in order to be resilient, sustainable and thriving.

At the conference, we will discuss how we create a healthier culture for the people of Wales, being mindful of our diverse cultural backgrounds and the influence that they will have on the health and lifestyle choices that people make within and beyond welsh borders.
